Busy period coming up on the work front for me, so I’m taking a Fall break starting today, at least through all of October, and likely much of November as well.
For paying subscribers, billing will be paused until I hit the resume button. Your next bill date will be pushed out appropriately. If you have 12 days left on a monthly subscription right now, you’ll still have 12 days left when I resume. If you have 289 days left on an annual subscription, you’ll still have 289 days. If you’re not a paying subscriber, you won’t be able to subscribe to read paywalled archive posts until I resume publication.
Note that the Contraptions book club will continue through the break. September was Montaigne essays (tough going for most going by the chat, but I eventually managed to get into it).
The October read will take us to Asia: Majapahit: Intrigue, Betrayal and War in Indonesia’s Greatest Empire by Harold van der Linde. Chat thread.
The November read will take us to the Age of Exploration: 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created by Charles C. Mann. Chat thread.
In December, after I’m back, we’ll round out the year with Thomas More’s Utopia, which should be a nice capstone read for our year delving into the 1200-1600 period.
