Would the mass availability of obedient AI serfs as communication partners also shape our expectations and habits in inter-human conversations? How much autonomy will a superior tolerate from his human reports when he can get results with so much less friction from a constrained AI?
Instead of adapting AI to us, we may be adapting to the AI provided to us by the big players.
i think it may be interesting to apply this code to microsoft itself, the corporation - no need to wait for super capable AI when, as you note, we have capable non-human entities already. yes, it pretends to be ruled by humans, but is it? does any human understand it well enough to govern it? what about emergent properties and unexpected consequences? and, of course, are humans first?
