Proof that many of us interested in the phenomenon of play/games soon realise that it's an ontological practice. I wonder how these "formalisations of wilderness" relate to Stuart Kauffman's adjacent possible, which has always been the strata where I'd find elemental "playability". I'm also wondering whether the self-limitation involved in gameplay - Bernard Suits on the lusory, the 60:40 rule of mammalian rough and tumble - is a way to approach ASI agency. "Come, be in a game with us!" Fabulously stimulating, as ever. Best PK

That was fun and relevant to my interests ;) Been toying with similar ideas for a long time. One interesting lens to look at it is incremental games, as they surface the game -> meta-game -> meta-meta-game -> ... ladder particularly well, automating things and unlocking new interface layers to generate new mechanics / dynamics / aesthetics at every step.
