For those interested in the early modern mind (and the late Hermetic mind...), further reading might include Yates's *The Art of Memory*, a truly paradigm-shattering study when it appeared that has since become foundational; Grafton's book on Girolamo Cardano, *Cardano's Cosmos* (read it thinking that Cardano might have been the first modern consultant); and John Crowley's novel quartet Aegypt, or, The Solitudes (Aegypt/The Solitudes, Love & Sleep, Daemonomania, and Endless Things).

re horse vs non-horse. The Old Testament specifically commands the king of Israel to NOT own many horses (so the country will not be dragged into the orbit of Egypt where horses come from). King David, when he raided Mesopotamia (as related in Samuel II:8), captured 1700 horses and killed (or castrated) all but 100 chariots' worth. King Solomon acted differently and had many horses. And guess what, his kingdom split in two, with the northern part being (apparently) more horse-oriented, based on ruins of stables and a stone stele record of the Battle of Qarqar. "horses" seem (to me) to include both riding horses and chariot horses.

Anyone find a kindle copy of the hermeneutics book?

Also perhaps one could offer a pop pan history of the psyche from the dawn of the bicameral mind to today
